Expanding Access
Partnerships help remove barriers so more individuals and families can access YMCA programs, regardless of financial circumstances.

Opening Doors to Opportunity

The Family YMCA exists to address the most pressing needs in our communities. We believe that strong relationships and consistent local presence are the best ways to create lasting personal and social change.

Through partnerships with regional organizations, the YMCA is able to extend financial assistance, reduce barriers to participation, and ensure that more children, teens, and families can access programs that support health, stability, and overall well-being.

Access means more than affordability. It means making sure families can participate, belong, and benefit from programs that strengthen their lives.

A Longstanding Partnership with United Way

United Way of Northern New Mexico / Los Alamos has been a key partner since the YMCA opened its doors in 1955. Their support has helped make scholarships available for enriching afterschool and camp programs, ensuring that children and families can participate even when cost might otherwise stand in the way.

United Way also continues to champion the YMCA’s Española Teen Center, helping expand access to safe spaces, positive relationships, and meaningful opportunities for young people in the region.

These kinds of partnerships are essential to keeping the YMCA accessible and responsive to community needs. By working together, we are able to connect more people with programs that improve health, stability, confidence, and belonging.

Why Access Matters

When barriers are removed, children can attend afterschool programs and camp, teens can find support and connection, and families can participate in programs that strengthen daily life.

Access creates possibility. It ensures that YMCA programs are available not only to those who can easily afford them, but also to those who need them most.

Partnerships like these help ensure that the YMCA remains welcoming, relevant, and accessible to all.
